7th Heaven was started in 2008 by Jon Dixon and Andy Wetson, two of the team of people who worked at Almighty Records. During the late 90's and early 2000s Wetson was employed at Almighty in sales and marketing, he had added responsibility for client liaison for the remixes Almighty created, reporting to Almighty’s CEO. Wetson left Almighty in 2005 when Almighty closed its London offices. He is also longtime resident DJ at Royal Vauxhall Tavern, a gay nightclub in London. Jon Dixon was the lead producer up until 2002 when he left Almighty. He continued to work for Almighty on a freelance basis from 2004 until 2010. Jon has over the years headed up many of the Almighty remixes and in-house productions. They both played a major role in making Almighty one of the world’s most successful commercial remix teams ever.[3]
7th Heaven debuted in early 2008 with the release of Ain't Nothin' Goin' On But The Rent featuring Katherine Ellis, a former Almighty vocalist, on a remixed version of a hit song originally released in 1986 by R&B singer Gwen Guthrie. 7th Heaven has been commissioned by a large number of dance and pop artists to record remixed versions of their songs and have had released over 250 remixes since its formation. In 2010, 7th Heaven became one of the UK's most prolific remix teams, producing in excess of 50 remixes (up to November 2010) across many of the major record labels.
Remixes by 7th Heaven have had some success on Music Week's charts; notably Wear My Kiss by Sugababes (Commercial Pop Club Chart #1[4]) and Get Outta My Way by Kylie Minogue (Pop Chart #1 and Club Chart #1[5])
Scott Mills of BBC Radio 1 has placed a number of 7th Heaven remixes on rotation on his Friday Floor Fillers show, such as "Ridin' Solo" by Jason Derulo[6], "Get Outta My Way" by Kylie Minogue[7] (currently for 16 consecutive weeks) and "Higher" by The Saturdays[8].
